Anubis

Anubis

Egypt

Anubis, usually depicted holding a scepter, was the god of embalming and the dead. Since jackals were often seen in cemeteries, the ancient Egyptians believed that they watched over the dead. He is one of the oldest gods, seen on tombs from the First Dynasty (c. 3150-2890 BCE).

This entity appears in the story “7. An Ancient Egyptian Dilemma”.
