Ark of the Covenant
Eritrea; Israel
The Ark of the Covenant, described in the Book of Exodus, was a gold-covered chest with the Ten Commandments inside and a bowl of manna on top. Two angels stood guard, one blowing a trumpet, the other holding Aaron’s rod. Tradition claims the Kingdom of Axum (now in Eritrea) as the Ark’s final resting place, though Moses is said to watch over it.
This entity appears in the story “14. The Ancient Middle East”.
