Bulul

Bulul

Philippines

The Bulul or Rice God protects the Ifugao folk and their rice harvest. Carved from wood, he is usually depicted seated with his arms crossed over his upraised knees, decorated with feathers, and placed on roof eaves and in rice paddies. For extra power, during the rice planting season, he is blessed by a priest.

This entity appears in the story “21. Buddhist Defiance”.
