Chacmool

Mexico

The Chacmool, an intermediary for the gods, first appearing around 800 CE, is seen as a reclining figure with its head facing 90 degrees from the front and supported by its elbows. It held a bowl on its stomach containing sacrificial offerings: incense, herbs, and sometimes a human heart.

This entity appears in the story “17. The Calavera Enters”.
