Cold Mask
Lombok, Indonesia
The Cold Mask, so-called because it has no expression, belongs to a shaman. The mouth is half-open, the eyes half-closed, ready to receive spirits (three are already hovering, one from the shaman helper-animal on the forehead). The Indonesian Sasak are animists and believe even inanimate items like rocks have a spirit essence.
This entity appears in the story “23. Island Faiths”.
