Dol Harubeang

The Dol Harubeang is a large basalt statue from Jeju Island, South Korea. Because of their isolation, the people of Jeju have developed a culture and language distinct from mainland Korea. The “stone grandfathers” are considered gods and are placed outside houses for protection against traveling demons.
