Engai

Engai is the supreme deity of the Kikuyu people, aloof and distant atop Mount Kirinyaga (Mount Kenya). As he was the creator of the universe and everything in it, worshippers faced the holy mountain when they made sacrifices; however, the minor gods who waited on his bidding were often more approachable because they were known to descend to the forests below to communicate with humans.
