The Fetish Bird is essential to Native American communities (especially the Southwest) because of its ability to travel freely above the earth, making it a link from the earth to supernatural realms. For added blessings, they often carry stones and medicine bundles with herbs like the cleansing sage tied with fiber or sinew.
