Hotoi Buddha

The Hotoi Buddha is based on the legend of a monk who traveled all over Japan with a sack filled with gifts that he gave to children. Because of this, he is often depicted with children on his shoulders and in his arms. He has a strong affiliation with his Western counterpart, Santa Claus.
