Isis
Egypt
Isis, the Egyptian goddess, was first depicted in the Old Kingdom (c. 2686 – 2181 BCE). It was believed her power was more significant than the other gods because she protected the kingdom from harm and helped the dead enter the afterlife. At night she flew the skies with the symbol of immortality, the Ankh, one in either hand, and those who saw her were greatly comforted.
This entity appears in the story “7. An Ancient Egyptian Dilemma”.
