Jaguar God

Mexico

The Jaguar God (portrayed by a man wearing a jaguar mask) prostrates himself before an incense burner to placate an even more powerful god, Kinich Ahau, or “Night Sun.” In pre-Columbian Mayan mythology, the jaguar was an underworld god, thus a symbol of the night.

This entity appears in the story “17. The Calavera Enters”.
