Jalisco Tomb Figurine
Mexico
Jalisco Tomb Figurines are from the little-known shaft tomb culture (c.300 BCE) of Jalisco, where effigies, characterized by an elongated face, a high forehead, and often capped by a turban-like headgear, were placed in the tombs to protect the dead. The welts on the shoulders represent scars received in ceremonial rites.
This entity appears in the story “17. The Calavera Enters”.
