John Frum
Vanuatu
John Frum (maybe from a GI’s “I’m John, from America”) was the god of the Cargo Cult movement of WWII that began when U.S. troops were stationed in the South Pacific. Islanders watched planes (which they had never seen before) unload cargo, made their own landing strips from local materials, then waited for planes to land and discharge wealth.
This entity appears in the story “8. Bullying in Oceania”.
