Lamassu

The Lamassu is a celestial being from around 800 BCE, with a human head, eagle’s wings, and a bull’s body, giving it intelligence, agility, and strength. As the kings of ancient Assyria considered it a protective deity, huge statues of the Lamassu were erected at their palace gateways.
