Lotus

The Lotus has significance in both Buddhism and Hinduism. In Buddhism, the lotus is symbolic of purity because although it is rooted in mud, its flowers blossom on long stalks floating above the muddy waters, while many Hindu gods are depicted as either standing on a lotus flower or holding it in their hands.
