Medicine Man
Native North America
The Medicine Man or spiritual healer carries a rattle for ceremonial dances and a small pouch containing sacred items. On special occasions he wears a mask, usually of an animal like a bear, believed to contain special powers. The mask also helps others (like an Aztec sun god or a spirit eagle) to identify him.
