Olmec Head
Mexico
Olmec Heads date from at least 900 BCE. Sculpted from basalt boulders, they were buried shortly after their completion, possibly for ancestor worship. The colossal heads, some 14′ high, were forgotten for nearly 3,000 years until their rediscovery in the late 1800s.
This entity appears in the story “17. The Calavera Enters”.
