Shams

Shams, the sun goddess, was worshipped in a trinity with Athtar, god of the planet Venus, and Almaqah, the moon god. Before Islam, religion on the Arabian Peninsula focused on local gods; however, the Sun/Moon/Planet Venus trinity seems to have been worshipped throughout Arabia, though their names differed between regions.
