Spirit Bird of Tucuman

Argentina

The Spirit Bird of Tucuman, found on rock carvings and pottery, was a totem creature of the Cachaqui tribe. They had reached a high degree of civilization before becoming part of the Inca territory in 1480, practicing shamanism and probably using an image like the bird on the gourd to enter the spirit state. It would, of course, be eclipsed by future deities.

This entity appears in the story “16. Peace on Earth”.
