Saint Jerome

Saint Jerome, a monk and scholar who translated most of the Bible into Latin, was born 347 CE in Stridon (long vanished but near Montenegro on the eastern Adriatic coast). He usually appears with a lion because of the popular legend that he tamed one by removing a thorn from its paw.
