Saint Martha is a Biblical figure who served Jesus a meal when he visited her home in Bethany. She emerged as the patron saint of the hospitality industry (including homemakers, cooks, maids, and baristas). Her clothing is often smudged from cooking, and she is always shown with a ladle.
