Tairona Funerary Mask

The Tairona Funerary Mask, with its closed eyes, was placed over the face of a corpse and might have had some likeness to the deceased. The headdress, nose ring, and earrings indicate the wearer was of a high class, possibly a priest, and was part of the Tairona civilization, which flourished around 200 CE.
