Teponaztli
Guatemala, Central America
The Teponaztli was an Aztec drum that, according to legend, was a god banished to earth and therefore considered sacred. Played at all major Aztec rituals, it was made of bamboo with the ends stopped, had a H-shaped slit for sound to escape, and was decorated with images of the sun god.
This entity appears in the story “3. Tribal Music”.
