Vejigante

Vejigante (demons) appear in Puerto Rican festival celebrations during Carnival and originate from medieval Spain, where they represented the ruling Moors. They wear bright clothing; their mouths contain a large number of teeth and their heads multiple horns. The Heavens are amused at their innocence and birds consider them so harmless they eat out of their hands.
