The Black Madonna of Einsiedeln is a statue found in the thousand-year-old Benedictine monastery of Einsiedeln. Clothed in rich brocades, she holds the Christ Child in her left hand and a scepter in her right. Candles of gratitude have blackened both her and her baby son.
