Hermit

Hermit

Egypt

The Hermit, like St. Anthony of Egypt, is a solitary who has vowed obedience, poverty, and chastity. He is said to possess magical powers and is often asked for blessings by penitents on pilgrimages. Sometimes he puts down his holy book and dreams of a devil in a red dress carrying plates of food and beer.

This entity appears in the story “20. Crowded Christians”.
