Japanese Doll
Japan
Japanese Dolls are revered because they are supposed to embody the spirit of a child. Hinamatsuri, Dolls Day, held on March 3, celebrates the nation’s children. The adults float dolls dressed in period clothing into streams and lakes, believing they protect children from evil spirits. Some dolls are said to stay afloat for years.
